The Ugandan army under the Joint Security architecture on national security has strengthened its support to civil authority as mandated by law in a bid to ensure that the country, the function of inauguration and swearing in of the new president is safe and secure for both nationals and international guests invited to grace the same.
Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters in Naguru on Monday morning, the deputy army spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki said with the help of several intelligence led operations, together with the Uganda Police Force we have affected several detections, deterrent and preventive security measures to ensure no one hell bent to disrupt the Wednesday function succeeds and indeed no one will.
Akiiki said their well-known capacity to keep the country at peace has been heightened to security code class one to ensure that our forces and intelligence systems can even detect a pin drop.
He assured Ugandans that the country will be at peace as the new president is being sworn in. He said our guests are welcome to the country where peace and security is priority number one and we shall not leave any stone unturned to execute our constitutional mandate of ensuring peace, security and stability.
He noted that it is also important to note that some suspects whose arterial motive was to cause mayhem on the D-day have been picked up with credible intelligence for possible prosecution and security will not hesitate to arrest more in this scheme. All suspects picked up by other security agencies other than police are or shall be passed on to police well in time to enable the due process of the law.
The country is peaceful at the moment and Ugandans are encouraged to go about their business.
