Ugandan Authorities Dispel COVID Fears, Describes it as ‘Normal Flu’

Ugandan health Authorities have allayed concerns that the wave of cough and flu that is sweeping the nation may be caused by Coronavirus, COVID.

The development of a severe cough, the flu, or a fever was associated with an increase in cases of people becoming bedridden for days or losing their voices, according to local media.

Children have frequently not responded to medication, and some of them have required hospital admission and oxygen therapy, according to reports.

The Department of Infectious Disease Control said the outbreak was a “normal flu”.

“From our surveillance system, there is no indication of increased cases of Covid-19,” Dr Patrick Tusiime, the commissioner for communicable diseases prevention and control said.

The general drop in incidence has led the World Health Organisation (WHO) to proclaim that Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency.

However, the WHO issued a warning that many patients with severe Covid-19 are still being admitted to hospitals and that countries should continue with their internal disease mitigation efforts.
