Ugandan Police have linked the severed head of a child brought to the country’s parliament by a 22-year-old man to a headless body found in Kampala.
22-year-old Joseph Nuwashaba had attempted to gain entrance into Uganda’s parliament on Monday with his gruesome package. He was arrested and detained by the country’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Now, the police have said that a DNA test has proven that the severed head belonged to five-year-old Faith Kyamagero, a daughter to pastor Charles Ssenyonga of Kyamulibwa in Masaka city.
The parents had also identified the head as that of Kyamagero and police has handed it over to them for burial.
Nuwashaba was said to be the family’s farm hand.
Mr Nuwashaba told police officers after his arrest that he had intended to deliver the severed head to parliamentary speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
The speaker has not commented on the incident.
She told MPs on Tuesday that she was waiting for the outcome of police investigations.
According to the CID spokesperson Charles Twine, investigation detectives are going to take Nuwashaba for a check-up to determine his mental status.
Twine added that detectives will also find out whether the suspect was working with other people and the other murders he could have participated in before the Monday incident.
