After a truck driver rammed into one of the buildings of Kasaka Secondary School in Gomba on Tuesday afternoon, at least three kids are confirmed deceased and numerous others are hurt.
Three kids were instantly murdered when the driver of a Sino truck lost control of the vehicle at around 3:30pm and swerved into the student-occupied computer lab at the school.
According to local media citing Traffic Police Spokesman ASP Faridah Nampiim, 18 additional pupils were hurt during the incident and were promptly transported to the surrounding hospital facilities to receive treatment.
The unfortunate Sinotruk truck driver, according to school headmaster Kefasi Katumba, struck the school gate first before slamming into the Senior Four West classroom and computer lab.
“The driver seems to have failed to negotiate the corner and thought the truck will stop if he hits the school gate. Unfortunately, it just continued moving, crashing into the computer lab where it killed two students on the spot and injured several others,” he said.
Some pupils have apparently been sent home from school until next Monday as they recover from the tragedy’s shock.
