The United Kingdom is set to sign a deal with Nigeria that will permit British legal practitioners to render legal services in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the UK government in a press release on its website on Tuesday, stating that the agreement will enhance trade and investment for both countries.

According to the UK’s Department of Business and Trade, the new agreement to be signed between the two nations will strengthen collaboration between them.

Additionally, it revealed that the deal’s scope goes beyond finance, and further enhances the $7 billion bilateral collaboration that is already progressive.

“This partnership with Nigeria, the UK’s first with an African country, will allow us to work together and seize the opportunities that lie ahead. Nigeria has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world,” the British Business and Trade Secretary, Kemi Badenoch said.

“UK businesses have already seen huge success here and I look forward to seeing how we continue to grow this relationship,” she added.

The agreement, known as the Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP), would be the UK’s first signing of a similar contract with an African nation.

According to Badenoch, Nigeria has one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa, therefore the agreement would present many prospects for Britons.
