The Kano Police Command on Wednesday arraigned Geng Quanrong for allegedly killing Ummulkusum Buhari, a 23-year-old graduate of Agriculture Science from Kampala University, Uganda.

The police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in a terse statement that was made available to newsmen said “We charged the case involving a Chinese National to Court 30 Zangeru Road Kano today, 21/09/2022.”

A friend of the murdered lady revealed that Quanrong told the Ummukulsum that he had converted to Islam to convince her to marry him.

The deceased, a divorcee, was said to be dating the suspect before she got married earlier this year and the relationship was said to have continued after she divorced her husband.

Rabia Garba said to be Ummita’s close friend said the suspect was known to them as ‘Frank’ and that he had informed them he adopted Faisal as his name after claiming to have accepted Islam because of Ummita.

“With the little I know of him, he is a person who gets frustrated over silly things. Even late replies while chatting gets him frustrated.

“Well I can say their relationship seemed to be love or a friendship, because the deceased knew she could never marry him. She made all efforts to stop him from falling for her but she later decided to date him because he claimed to convert to Islam.

“He claimed to have converted to Islam for her sake and that was what motivated her to date him. He even said he started learning how to pray,” Garba said.
