The United Nations has reported that more than 30,000 identity bracelets have been distributed to children in Gaza to help prevent family separation as displacement continues to affect families across the region.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), spokesperson Stephane Dujarric revealed that, in collaboration with humanitarian partners, the UN is expanding life-saving aid operations as more supplies enter Gaza.
Dujarric explained that, as displaced people continue to move between southern and northern Gaza to reunite with loved ones and begin rebuilding their lives, more than 545,000 individuals have crossed from the south to the north of Gaza in the past week. Additionally, over 36,000 people have been observed moving from the north to the south.
The distribution of child identity bracelets, which are essential for preventing family separations, is critical, particularly as more than 250 young children have been separated from their caregivers during the journey north. The bracelets are being provided to children under four years old.

In addition to these efforts, temporary sites for displaced people have been set up in North Gaza’s Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahiya, and Jabalya, each able to accommodate at least 5,000 individuals. Meanwhile, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported that around 280,000 school-aged children in Gaza have registered for the e-learning program.
Dujarric also expressed concerns regarding Israeli military operations in the West Bank, specifically in Jenin and Tulkarm, where Israeli forces are applying “lethal, war-like tactics.” He highlighted the destruction of 20 residential structures, displacing at least 15 families, and ongoing raids in El Far’a Refugee Camp that have led to further displacement.
The toll of Israeli operations in the West Bank has reached 39 Palestinian deaths since January 21, marking a continued escalation in violence. Since October 2023, Israel’s military actions in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 47,500 Palestinians, with more than 900 killed in the West Bank during attacks by Israeli forces and settlers.
