Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that to realise the blessing of a new Middle East truly, Israel must continue to find ways to develop deep ties with Saudi – Arabia.
Speaking at Friday’s session of the UN General Assembly, he stressed that while Israel intends to continue to abide by the agreements outlined in the Abraham Accord, it signed four years ago with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, having strong bilateral ties with Riyadh was essential for the peace and economic prosperity of the Middle East.
“To truly realise the blessings of the Middle East, we must continue the path we paved with the Abraham Accords four years ago. Above all, this means achieving a historic peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.”
He said that a relationship with Riyadh was crucial to fully reap the region’s blessings, noting that the Abraham Accords had already unleashed unprecedented trade and travel between the Gulf and the Middle East.
“What a blessing such a peace with Saudi Arabia would bring. It would be a boom to the security and economy of our two countries; it would boost trade and tourism across the region and help transform the Middle East into a global juggernaut.”
“Our two countries could cooperate on energy, water, agriculture, artificial intelligence and many other fields. Such a peace would usher in true reconciliation between the Arab world and Israel, Islam and Judaism and Mecca and Jerusalem.” Netanyahu said.
