On Monday, the UAE and Egypt’s air forces dropped their ninth shipment of humanitarian and relief material into the Gaza Strip.
The UAE Ministry of Defense’s combined Operations Command reported on X that two aircraft carrying 64 tonnes of food and medical aid were used in the combined operation.
The Egyptian Defence Ministry stated in a statement that Egypt, in collaboration with “friendly and brotherly” countries, continues to engage in the international coalition’s air assistance delivery operations in Jordan.
The airdrop was part of the “Birds of Goodness” initiative, which seeks to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
Since the project began on February 29, 353 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Gaza.
According to a separate statement made by the Jordanian army, air aid was supplied to northern Gaza for the seventh time, with participation from Jordan, Egypt, the United States, France, and Belgium.
Israel has launched a deadly military onslaught against the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack organised by the Palestinian group Hamas, which killed approximately 1,200 people.
More than 31,100 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, with over 72,700 others injured as a result of enormous destruction and a lack of basic supplies.
Israel has also enforced a punishing siege on the Gaza Strip, pushing its citizens, particularly those in northern Gaza, to the brink of hunger.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the Israeli siege has caused at least 27 deaths in Gaza due to starvation and dehydration.
According to the UN, the Israeli conflict has forced 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement due to a punishing blockade of most food, potable water, and medication, and 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
Israel is accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice. An interim verdict issued in January ordered Tel Aviv to halt genocidal acts and take steps to ensure that residents in Gaza get humanitarian aid.
