University of Zimbabwe Directs All Students to Get Vaccinated Ahead of Resumption

Ahead of annual Research Week scheduled for 23rd to the 27th of August 2021, the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) Acting Registrar Maxwell Chikerema has directed that all its students must get vaccinated before returning to college for end-of-semester examinations.

In the statement issued, only those vaccinated will be allowed to sit for the examinations.

“The University of Zimbabwe wishes to advise and urge all its students to get vaccinated at centres of vaccination that have been established in their communities in and around the country before returning to campus for examinations.

This precaution is meant to protect yourself, other fellow students as well as our members of staff as we prepare to return to campus in the near future for examinations and academic business.

Let us all remember to mask up, sanitise, wash our hands and maintain social distance. Please stay safe.”

This comes after the government last week announced that churches can resume in-person services but only to fully vaccinated congregants.
