US Rapper Young Thug Pleads Guilty in Georgia Street Gang Case

Rapper Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, has pleaded guilty to involvement in gang-related activities as well as drug and firearms charges, concluding a lengthy trial in Georgia.

The Grammy-winning artist, widely regarded as an influential figure in hip-hop, was among 28 alleged gang members indicted in 2022 for a series of charges under Georgia’s racketeering laws. Prosecutors claim that Young Thug led the gang known as YSL, or Young Slime Life, and used his record label as a front for criminal activities.

His sentencing is expected to follow, with the prosecution aiming for a 45-year term—25 years in custody and 20 on probation.
