The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken is scheduled to meet with Ethiopian political leaders in Addis Ababa.
The purpose of the meeting is to evaluate the progress made in implementing the peace agreement that put an end to the civil war in Ethiopia.
Additionally, Blinken will engage in talks with aid workers and civil society groups to address humanitarian needs and human rights issues.
The conflict, which lasted for two years, involved the federal government of Ethiopia and the Tigrayan regional administration and is believed to have resulted in the loss of over 500,000 lives.
After concluding his visit to Ethiopia, Blinken will head to Niger, where he will hold talks on the increasing threat posed by terror groups across the Sahel region.
