Valentine’s Day: NACA Encourages Responsible Approach to Love and Intimacy

As Valentine’s Day approaches, Nigeria’s National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) renews its commitment to advocating for a healthy and responsible expression of love, particularly amidst ongoing global health concerns.

Dr. Gambo Aliyu, the Director General of NACA, stresses the paramount importance of prioritising safety and well-being while demonstrating affection.

In an effort to promote a comprehensive perspective on love, NACA emphasises the significance of transparent communication, mutual respect, and conscientious decision-making.

Dr. Aliyu urges the public to integrate protective measures into intimate encounters, highlighting the necessity of regular HIV testing and open dialogues regarding sexual health within relationships.

“Love is a powerful force, and by embracing responsible practices, we can ensure that it enriches our lives without compromising our health. NACA is dedicated to providing resources, information, and support to empower individuals in making informed choices,” he asserts.

According to Dr. Aliyu, these actions not only bolster personal health but also contribute to the overarching objective of fostering safer and healthier communities.

He continued, “In line with our mission, NACA will conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns this Valentine’s Day to educate the public about the importance of both abstinence and safe sex practices. The agency aims to create an environment where love is celebrated responsibly, fostering a community that values support and health consciousness.”

“As a leading agency in Nigeria dedicated to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and improving the quality of life for individuals living with HIV, NACA collaborates with partners to develop and implement effective strategies for HIV prevention, care, and support,” he concludes.
