Max Verstappen believes Red Bull’s resilience and experience will be crucial in his pursuit of a record-equalling fifth consecutive Formula One world championship in 2025.
The Dutch driver secured his fourth straight title in Las Vegas last November, becoming only the fifth driver in F1 history to achieve such dominance. A successful title defence in 2025—Formula One’s 75th anniversary season—would see him match Michael Schumacher’s record of five consecutive championships.
Despite winning the 2024 title by 63 points over McLaren’s Lando Norris, Red Bull failed to secure a third straight constructors’ championship. However, Verstappen remains optimistic about their chances.
“If we are competitive as a team, then I’m sure that we can win it again,” Verstappen told reporters during the 2025 Formula One Season launch at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday.
“We are very experienced and I think we showed that also last year that it was a bit tougher for us, we were still maximising our results. And that’s, I think, the big strength of the team.”

With pre-season testing in Bahrain yet to take place ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 16, Verstappen admitted it was too early to assess Red Bull’s position in the competitive order.
“I don’t know where we are at the moment,” he said. “I think no one knows that. And in a few weeks we’ll know.”
The 27-year-old Dutchman added: “I’ve not driven my car, no-one has seen the other cars, so you can speculate about it, but it’s just a waste of energy to think about that yet. It’s good for the sport if it’s exciting, but I don’t know at the moment.”
Meanwhile, reports last month suggested Aston Martin was prepared to launch a staggering £1 billion ($1.25 billion) bid to lure Verstappen away from Red Bull. However, new Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell downplayed the speculation, focusing instead on the team’s existing drivers.
With the new season approaching, all eyes will be on whether Verstappen and Red Bull can maintain their dominance or if rival teams can mount a serious challenge.
