Top Nigerian music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy, has been revealed as the anonymous donor behind a ₦100 million contribution to social media personality VeryDarkMan’s new Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
VeryDarkMan, real name Martins Vincent Otse, had earlier caused a stir online after posting a video on Instagram expressing concern over the unexpected deposit.
He requested Zenith Bank to investigate the account, fearing it might be linked to fraudulent activity.
On Thursday, VeryDarkMan shared an update, confirming that Don Jazzy had contacted him to explain the donation.
“Yesterday, I posted that I received ₦100m in my account. I did not receive an alert. I just saw that the money had increased from ₦70m to ₦170m plus.
“I panicked because I didn’t expect anybody to just send me ₦100m like that, so I thought it was a glitch or maybe someone wanted to set me up, because people had been sending ₦50, ₦100, ₦200, ₦500 and so on, and it’s understandable for me to panic,” he explained.
Don Jazzy later messaged him, stating that he sent the ₦100 million to support VeryDarkMan’s development work.
“I believe in what you are doing and trust you to be as transparent as you have always been. We really need that in our country. I wish you all the best with the project and more blessings to you. It’s not easy,” the message read.
Social media users have applauded Don Jazzy for his generous support to VDM’s initiative.
VeryDarkMan assured supporters that he will keep them informed about the utilisation of the funds as a demonstration of his commitment to transparency.
The NGO has already received a staggering ₦179 million in just five days after its launch, VDM disclosed.
