The multi-million naira Ogbo Ogwu, also known as the Onitsha Drug Market was on Tuesday afternoon caught in flamed which killed at least three persons and destroyed a building, leaving 10 people severely injured.

The fire was said to have been from an explosion at the Chemical/Surgical Line of the market which killed one person, instantly.

The fire incident was said to have started some hours ago before the state fire service arrived to put out the blaze.

“There was stampede; nobody was thinking of how to save goods because it was an explosion. The two others were badly affected by the explosion and were rushed to a hospital. And they are said to have died,” an eyewitness said.
