Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara reportedly stormed the State House of Assembly quarters under heavy security on Thursday, May 9.
This follows the recent controversies surrounding Fubara’s utterances about the Assembly and calls from the Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) and some Local Government Chairmen to have him impeached from office.
News Central reported on Wednesday that Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, the lawmaker Representing Bonny Local Government Area State Constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly, emerged as the new speaker of the state assembly.
Oko-Jumbo replaced the former factional Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Eddison Ehie, who resigned as both Speaker and member of the House on December 31, 2023.
Reports indicate that the new Speaker is a staunch supporter of the Rivers Governor.
