Video: How Plane Carrying Attahiru Crashed

Attahiru was appointed Chief of Army Staff on January 26, 2021.

A video showing the plane crash that killed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru has surfaced.

COAS Attahiru died in a plane crash alongside ten others including his Aide-de-Camp, Major LA Hayat, three Brigadier Generals and a sergeant.

The crash which happened in Kaduna, North West Nigeria has sent shock waves round the country and the death of the Army Chief is considered a major loss for the Nigerian Army and the fight against insecurity.

All seven people on the COAS’ entourage, the flight crew including two Flight Lieutenants, one Sergeant and an Air Chief Marshall all died in the accident.

Those who died in the plane crash include the COAS, Brig. Gen MI Abdulkadir, Brig. Gen Olayinka, Brig. Gen Kuliya, Major LA Hayat, Major Hamzat and Sergeant Umar. Members of the crew included; Flt. Lt. TO Asaniyi, Flt. Lt AA Olufade, Sgt Adesina and ACM Oyedepo.

Nigeria has witnessed at least two military air crashes in the last four months with an air crash killing seven Air Force personnel in February this year in Abuja.
