Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assumed responsibility for the medical treatment of a 13-year-old boy, Adebola Akin-Bright, whose small intestine was reportedly missing following treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and a private hospital in Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu made this commitment on Sunday, 3rd September 2023, during an unannounced visit to Adebola and his mother, Deborah Abiodun, at the Pediatric Ward of LASUTH.
The Governor vowed to mobilise all available medical expertise at LASUTH and other resources to ensure the boy’s survival.
It should be noted that Mrs. Abiodun had made an appeal to the Governor via video, seeking an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of her son’s intestine.
After hearing from both the mother and the attending doctor, who was overseeing Adebola’s case, Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the foremost priority is the boy’s life, and as such, he will take on the case.
In response, Adebola’s mother expressed her gratitude to Sanwo-Olu for his visit and for assuming responsibility for her son’s medical care.
