Tanker Explosion in Ondo State Multiple Deaths Feared

Many are feared dead following a tragic tanker explosion in Ore, Odigbo Local Council of Ondo State. The incident occurred along Showboy Road, adjacent to a filling station in Ore, as disclosed by a source named Nireti. The truck lost control and spilled its contents on the road leading to people rushing to scoop fuel. from the truck that had crashed.

Speculations suggest that the explosion might have been caused by a spark from a phone held by one of the individuals who was scooping fuel that had spilled from the tanker.

Nireti who is also a trader in the area, further stated that the inferno claimed the lives of over 15 individuals, including three children and a pregnant woman. She recounted being in her shop when she heard the tanker fall amid the falling rain. The fire ignited after a spark from a phone as people were collecting fuel.

She sadly mentioned, “Three children died, and we have counted over 15 bodies. A pregnant woman who wanted to buy the fuel also died. The money is still with her.”

In the meantime, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that she was yet to receive detailed information about the incident as at the time of filing this.
