A heavy rainfall on Sunday, April 21, 2024, unleashed havoc in Ogun State, causing significant damage. The downpour, which lasted for over an hour starting around 11:30 am, destroyed infrastructure, vehicles, and electrical systems in the Oju-Ore and Sango-Ota underbridge areas.
Confirming the incident, Busolami Tunwase, spokesperson for the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), reported that properties valued at over N100 million, including vehicles, were adversely affected by the torrent. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
IBEDC has promptly dispatched its technical team to address the damage in the affected areas.
“We are appealing to the public to stay clear of every electrical pole, wire and other installation until we are able to clear everything off the road,” the IBEDC official said.
