The Aminu Kano International Airport yesterday had no fewer than 20 private jets conveying prominent government and business executives on its runway for the wedding of the son of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The son of Mr. President, Yusuf, got married to the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Zahra Bayero in Kano on Friday.
According to reports, several current and serving government officials were in attendance some of which include; former President Goodluck Jonathan, a former President of Niger Republic, Muhammdu Isoufu; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, governors Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), and Babagana Zulum (Borno), federal lawmakers among many others.
The minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ali Isa Pantami, was tasked with the honor of joining the couple together at the Bichi Central Mosque.
Buhari’s nephew, Maman Daura, received the bride on behalf of the President, while an influential businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, gave out the bride on behalf of the Bayero family.
Meanwhile, the celebration continues in Bichi today as the Emir, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero (Father of the bride) will be formally coronated and handed his staff. This is scheduled for 10am at the Bichi main stadium.
Alhaji Nasir, the third son of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, was appointed Emir of Bichi on March 9, 2020, when the first emir of the newly created emirate, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, his elder brother, was moved from Bichi to Kano Emirate following the deposition of the former emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
