A stampede at the Lycée Bilingue d’Etoug-Ebe in Cameroon’s political capital Yaoundé, has left at least 106 students wounded.
Reports indicate that commotion ensued when students who were late for school hurried to enter the school gate which had earlier been locked. The situation took a tragic turn.
About 21 students were rushed to nearby health facilities.
Emergency responders from the local and national authorities were mobilised to deal with this unforeseen crisis. Law enforcement agents and psychologists were also dispatched to the scene to provide immediate and required support.
