Lineshree Moodley has been named as Visa’s new Country Head for South Africa. She will be a member of Visa‘s Sub-Saharan Africa leadership team and be in charge of developing and implementing the company’s growth strategy in the region.

The hiring of Lineshree is in keeping with Visa’s goal to continue developing a strong regional team by aligning special skills and abilities with important business prospects.

“Lineshree’s appointment reflects the importance we place in the South African market and in supporting our clients and partners,” Senior Vice President at Visa and Head of Sub-Saharan Africa, Aida Diarra said.

“The depth of experience that she brings will enable her to make immediate contributions to our strategy and growth within the region and Sub-Saharan Africa. We look forward to Lineshree’s leadership in building on our continued efforts to help accelerate digital commerce in South Africa.”

Lineshree held a number of positions at Visa prior to her current one, including Head of Visa Consulting and Analytics for Sub-Saharan Africa and, most recently, Interim Cluster Country Head for Visa South Africa. Before joining Visa, Lineshree worked as a Managing Director at Accenture Financial Services (SA).

She has more than 17 years of experience in retail banking and has had a considerable influence on Sub-Saharan Africa’s planned development of e-commerce. Additionally, she has helped fintechs and mobile network carriers in a variety of markets build strategies and digitize payments across the continent.

Meanwhile, the largest fishing firm in Africa, Oceana Group, has selected Zafar Mahomed as its new finance leader, effective November 1. Mahomed previously served as the CFO of Cell C and McDonald’s SA.

Mahomed will succeed interim CFO Ralph Buddle, who has served in that capacity since February 2021 following Hajra Karrim’s suspension and eventual termination from the business for “gross negligence.”
