Brazilian footballer Vitor Roque an 18-year-old forward has officially joined Barcelona on an eight-year-long contract. The La Liga club Barcelona announced that they had reached an agreement for the transfer of Vitor Roque with Athletico on July 12, 2023, agreeing a contract until the 2030–31 season with a buyout clause of €500 million.
His former club Athletico Paranaense officially confirmed Roque’s departure from the club after announcing on Saturday, December 2, 2023, that their home game against Santos would be his final appearance for the club.
Roque who landed in the early hours of the morning of December 27, 2023, is currently undergoing medicals and is enjoying his first few hours as a Barça player in the Catalan capital. In a recent interview, the Brazilian said: “My dream became reality. I’m here to learn from this group and to score goals for Barcelona…I can’t wait to get started”.
Set to join the La Liga club in January 2024, Roque will wear the Number 19 jersey. The number that was most recently worn by Franck Kessie, Ferran Torres, and Sergio Aguero in previous seasons is commonly associated with Lionel Messi at the early stage of his career at Barcelona.
