Kyle Walker has joined newly-promoted Burnley on a two-year contract following a £5 million move from Manchester City, bringing an end to the England international’s seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The 35-year-old full-back, who has been capped 96 times by his country, brings a wealth of experience to Turf Moor, having made 410 Premier League appearances and won the title six times during a glittering spell with City. He also lifted the Champions League trophy with the club.

Walker spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but the Italian side opted not to make the deal permanent. With his City contract due to expire in 2026, speculation had been mounting over his future, particularly after he was left out of City’s squad for the Club World Cup.

Speaking after completing the switch, Walker said he was excited about the new chapter in his career and praised Burnley boss Scott Parker, who guided the Clarets to the Premier League with a remarkable 100-point campaign.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said Walker in a club statement on Saturday. “When I spoke to Scott and heard about his vision for next season, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. He’s done a fantastic job, and now we’re both focused on the challenge ahead—getting stuck into life back in the best league in the world.”

The move also reunites Walker with Parker, with whom he played at Tottenham Hotspur between 2011 and 2013. Their relationship, combined with Burnley’s upward momentum, is believed to have played a key role in securing the deal.
