Grammy award-winning Canadian singer Celine Dion performed live at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Friday.

It marked her return to the stage after a four-year hiatus due to her struggle with stiff person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder.

During the ceremony, she sang Edith Piaf’s 1950 song ‘Hymne à l’amour’ as the concluding performance at the Eiffel Tower.

News Central reports that the 56-year-old singer was paid $2 million for her performance at the 2024 Olympics.

This was Dion’s second appearance at the Olympic Games, as she had previously sung ‘The Power of the Dream’ in Atlanta in 1996.
