We Stopped 3.8 Million Cyberattacks During the Elections - Pantami (News Central TV)

According to Professor Isa Pantami, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, the Federal Government stopped more than 3.8 million cyberattacks during the nationwide elections for governor and state houses of assembly on March 18.

According to Pantami, the infrastructures put in place by the government to monitor activities in the country’s cyberspace before, during, and after the elections aided in the blockage.

He claimed that a permanent Committee established by the Federal Government with the task of protecting the country’s cyberspace had consolidated its efforts since the Presidential elections to guarantee that Nigeria’s cyberspace remained safe and secure.

The Minister also praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his support of and approval of initiatives to promote the digital economy and cyber security in a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Technical Matters, Dr. Femi Adeluyi.

In his breakdown of the attacks from Friday, March 17, to Monday, March 20, Pantami noted that they took place both inside and outside of Nigeria.

The minister had previously stated that the Nigerian presidential and national assembly elections in 2023 saw a total of 12,988,978 cyberattacks.
