What To Know About FAAN’s New E-tags for Airport Access

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) commenced the sale of 2024 e-tags on Friday, May 17, for entry into the 24 Federal airports in Nigeria. According to FAAN, this initiative is in line with the directive of the presidency approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

1. Function of E-Tags

The Electronic tag (E-Tag) is specially designed for the electronic collection of gate fees. It allows for easy passage through the gates and helps ease traffic congestion, speeding up the collection process.

2. Where is it used?

For now, they are implemented only at Lagos and Abuja airports while entrance stickers are used in other airports in the country.

3. Who pays the entrance fees?

Payment applies to every motorist entering the airport vicinity.

4. What are the payment methods?

The entrance fee is paid in cash or via card. The payment machines are stationed at the entrance gates.

5. Mandatory nature of e-Tags

They are not mandatory. You can decide to pay in cash or with your card at the entrance gate. 

6. Can it be transferred?

No, they are registered to specific vehicles and must be affixed to the driver’s side windshield to be valid for entry.

7. Additional parking fees

E-tags do not cover parking fees except for VIP tags which give access to the VIP parking lot.

8. Validity of E-Tags

They are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

9. How to purchase buy e-tags

10. What are the business hours for purchasing E-Tags:

The offices are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
