‘Whatever happens, happens,’ says Cameroon’s Joel Embiid on his future with Sixers

Cameroonian NBA star Joel Embiid says he wants to end his career with his career Philadelphia 76sers, despite some commentary circulating around the League of him getting traded.

Embiid’s 76ers were knocked out in the first round of this year’s NBA Play-offs, losing 4-0 in the series to Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

And on Monday, head coach Brett Brown was sacked, fueling more speculation about possible changes to the team, especially the much talked about partnership between Embiid and his Sixers co-star Ben Simmons, a combination that continues to come under intense scrutiny both on and off the court.

But according to the 26-year-old Embiid: “Whatever happens, happens.”

“I always say that I want to end my career here. If it happens, good. If it doesn’t happen, well, you move on and all that stuff. But I’m here and I’m going to still try to do my best to bring a championship back to Philly.

Embiid averaged 30.0 points and 12.3rebounds in the Sixers’ series loss to the Celtics who will face another Cameroonian, in Pascal Siakam and his Toronto Raptors team in game 1 of their Eastern Conference semi-final series.

Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, Lebron James posted 30 points with 10 assists for the Los Angeles Lakers in their 135-115 win over the Portland Trailblazers to lead 3-1 in their series.
