WhatsApp has revealed that it would no longer be supported on a variety of phone types beginning in the summer of 2024.

The ruling has a substantial impact on a large number of popular gadget brands, including Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Apple, Sony, and LG.

Users should check the list of incompatible devices to see if their phones are affected and whether they need to upgrade to continue using WhatsApp securely.

Surprisingly, some of the models on the list are extremely old, but because to their good technology or a lack of upgrade alternatives, some users have clung to WhatsApp for dear life.
WhatsApp currently recommends that users only use the app if they have a device running Android 5.0 or later, or an iPhone running iOS 12 or above.

Popular smartphones affected include the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, Motorola Moto G, and a variety of iPhone models such as the 5, 6, and SE.

The development emphasises the rapid growth of technology and the requirement for consumers to stay current with their gadgets in order to access key services such as WhatsApp.

As the digital era progresses, it is increasingly important for users to check for updates and maintain compatibility with the most recent software and applications.
Given WhatsApp’s decision to stop support for specific phone types, there are several critical factors that users should be aware of regarding this potential incompatibility issue.

One of the primary concerns about WhatsApp dropping support for older phone types is the potential security threats.

Unsupported devices may be more vulnerable to security risks because they will no longer receive critical updates and patches from WhatsApp.

Furthermore, those who are unable or unwilling to upgrade their handsets may encounter issues interacting with friends and family who still use WhatsApp.

On the problematic side, some users claim that tech companies should maintain outdated devices to guarantee inclusivity and accessibility for all users, regardless of device age or specifications.

However, WhatsApp believes that supporting outdated models may limit the app’s capacity to evolve and deliver new features that demand more modern hardware.
