Isaac Bristol, the man allegedly behind the X whistleblower account “PIDOMNigeria”, has been charged by the Nigeria Police Force with several offences, including money laundering, cybercrime, and unauthorised acquisition and dissemination of classified official documents.
On Tuesday, he appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at the Federal High Court Abuja, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
After entering his plea, Justice Nwite adjourned the case to September 23, 2024, to rule on the bail application filed for the defendant. The defendant was ordered to be remanded in the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi claimed Bristol was arrested for alleged serious offences undermining government operations’ integrity.
It was revealed that several allegations, including unlawful possession and leakage of classified documents as well as cyber-related crimes, were made against the suspect.
The arrest was confirmed following the disclosure by investigative journalist David Hundeyin regarding the detainment of the anonymous whistleblower.
