The World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed the tragic death of one of its staff members in Syria due to an air strike, as reported by Reuters.
Emad Shehab, an engineer stationed in Deir Ez-Zor, lost his life in the early hours of today when his building was struck amidst a series of air strikes in the region, WHO stated.
Shehab served as WHO’s focal point for water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives in the city.
“His untimely death is a stark reminder of the ongoing violence and suffering endured by the people of Syria. He will be greatly missed,” stated WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
