The World Health Organisation (WHO) has facilitated the medical evacuation of 10 patients from Gaza, sending them to Jordan and the United States for specialized treatment.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed on X that four patients, accompanied by five companions, were evacuated to Jordan, while six children and five companions were sent to the US.
Tedros emphasised that over 12,000 individuals in Gaza still require medical evacuation and urged Israel to expedite approval processes and open additional corridors for safe evacuations. The ongoing conflict in Gaza, marked by continued Israeli military actions, has led to the deaths of almost 46,000 people, primarily women and children, since October 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.
