A former spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar campaign in 2023, Daniel Bwala, asked Labour Party Presidential Candidate Peter Obi to explain why the United Kingdom (UK) has relapsed into a recession.
Bwala, who has been in the news recently over his controversial political comments, threw the question on X after official data revealed the UK’s economic downturn at the end of 2023.

“UK has officially entered recession due to poor economy and food inflation. Explain to us how they drifted away from Egypt, China and Malaysi pls? Oh, how they have moved back from ploduction to conjonchon [sic].
“When we said inflation is a global phenomenon, let’s come together as a people and nation to drive our growth some chose to politicise unfortunate situation.”
Bwala’s attack comes not long after he described Obi as an “opportunist”. He made the remark while reacting to pictures of the LP frontman taken at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The former spokesperson faced criticism in January for declaring support for President Bola Tinubu after previously condemning the APC government. Barely a month to his declaration, he condemned the Tinubu-led government, stating that the administration would achieve nothing, even if given 30 years to perform.
The former APC member who decamped to PDP, had earlier claimed to reject an appointment from Tinubu in 2022 before joining Atiku Abubakar.
