The management of Max Air has explained why the plane, VM1623, registered 5N-BBM and travelling to Abuja, returned to Maiduguri airport ten minutes after takeoff.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Umar Kadafur, the Deputy Governor of Borno State, and more than 100 other passengers almost avoided a catastrophic catastrophe.
To prevent catastrophe, the pilot and crew were able to make an emergency landing back at Maiduguri airport.
An employee of Max Air verified the incident Thursday morning, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“The aircraft hit a bird in midair shortly after takeoff, causing one of the engines to catch fire,” the crew member stated. The pilot took immediate action to guarantee everyone’s safety.
According to reports, passengers were in a panic after the emergency landing, and many chose to pick up their belongings and head home rather than take another trip.
Nevertheless, Max Air management quickly set up a second plane from Kano to securely transfer the deputy governor and other passengers to Abuja.
A commissioner, special advisers, senior special assistants, and other aides were among the government dignitaries aboard the trip in addition to the deputy governor.
The airline operator responded to the event in a statement on Friday, stating that an engine issue discovered following takeoff prompted the air return of its flight to Maiduguri International Airport.
According to the airline, the captain noticed abnormal engine data and promptly started an air return.
“The affected engine was shut down as a precaution, following Standard Operational Procedures, allowing the aircraft to make a safe landing back at the airport,” the statement said.MaxAir responded quickly to minimise inconveniences by sending a rescue plane to Maiduguri, guaranteeing that travellers arrived at their destinations as soon as possible. Passenger comfort and safety are top priorities for MaxAir. To determine the source of the engine anomaly and make sure that similar incidents are prevented in the future, we are collaborating closely with aviation authorities.
“As one of Nigeria’s top airlines, we are dedicated to maintaining the best operational and safety standards to win over our esteemed customers’ faith and confidence.”
It verified that none of the crew or passengers were hurt.
