Nigeria’s National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has suspended Channels Television and slammed a fine of N5 million on the Lagos-based broadcast medium.
This was made known on Monday by the NBC who based their action on the station’s interview with the spokesman of a secessionist organiaation – Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on April 25.
It is still unclear the extent of the suspension since the channel was still available and accessible to viewers on cable and terrestrial as at the filing of this report.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been proscribed as a terrorist group since 2017 by the Buhari-led Nigerian government.
