Nigerian superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known globally as Wizkid, has confirmed the release date for his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Morayo. The album is set to drop on November 22, 2024. Following the recent release of his smooth single “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American soul artist Brent Faiyaz, excitement for the project has soared.
Wizkid has kept his collaborations selective this year, featuring on “MMS” with Asake from his album Lungu Boy, and “Work Me Out” alongside Shenseea on her album Never Gets Late Here. Brent Faiyaz, also featured on Morayo, had only one major collaboration earlier this year—“Should’ve Wore a Bonnet” with 21 Savage from his American Dream album.
Wizkid recently performed at the O2 Arena as part of Asake’s Lungu Boy tour, a venue he famously sold out in just 12 minutes back in November 2021.
Morayo holds deep significance for Wizkid as it serves as a tribute to his late mother, who passed away in 2023. This personal album promises to reflect his journey and emotions in a raw, heartfelt manner. With its release, Wizkid is poised to further cement his legacy as one of the leading figures in global music, blending Afrobeat and R&B in his signature style.
Earlier in 2024, Wizkid made headlines with his contributions to Bob Marley’s One Love album and a remix of DJ Tunez’s “Apala Disco.” As fans eagerly await Morayo, the album is expected to be a powerful body of work that showcases Wizkid’s evolution as an artist.
Stay tuned for more updates as Wizkid prepares to share this meaningful project with the world.
