Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, has made its debut at No. 98 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The achievement was revealed by Chart Data on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, noting that the album sold an impressive 13,000 units in its first week.
“Wizkid’s ‘Morayo’ debuts at #98 on this week’s Billboard 200 (13K sold),” the post read.
Released on November 22, Morayo is a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.
The album boasts an array of tracks, including Troubled Mind, Karamo, Kese (Dance), Bad Girl, Time, Piece of My Heart, Break Me Down, Bend, and A Million Blessings.
Other songs featured are Après Minuit, Bad for You, Soji, Don’t Care, Slow, Lose, and Pray.
The project sees Wizkid collaborating with renowned artists such as Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Anaïs, and Tiakola.
Morayo follows the success of Wizkid’s previous albums, most notably his 2020 hit Made in Lagos. The album recently became the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music and earned RIAA gold certification in 2022 after surpassing 500,000 copies sold in the United States.
Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, Wizkid first achieved global recognition with his debut album, Superstar, in 2011. He has since released several successful projects, including Ayo (2014), Sounds from the Other Side (2017), and More Love, Less Ego (2022).
The Grammy-winning artist’s accolades include his 2021 win for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the acclaimed track Brown Skin Girl.
