Women Protest Gunmen Invasion Of Cameroon School

Following gunmen attack on a private school in Cameroon, women in the West African country, on Monday, took to the streets to protests the gruesome killing of no fewer than eight pupils in the incident.

The gunmen on motorcycles, said to be in military uniforms, had attacked the Mother Francisca School n Kumba, in the troubled South West Region around midday on Saturday.

About 12 other children were injured in the incident when they jumped from the second floor in an attempt to escape the attack.

The government and separatists have been blaming each other for the attack.

Parts of Cameroon have been gripped by unrest since Anglophone groups stepped up their push for independence in 2016.

Some schools in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions have recently reopened following a four-year shutdown due to threats from separatists fighting for an independent state of Ambazonia.

Anglophone activists say the country’s French-speaking majority is marginalising the English-speaking minority.
