Workers in Akwa Ibom to Receive N80,000 Minimum Wage

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has revealed that public civil servants in the state will receive a new minimum wage package of N80,000, establishing an Implementation committee tasked with submitting its report within one month.

According to a statement released by the commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong on Wednesday, the committee will be headed by the Head of the Civil Service, Effiong Essien.

“Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared that the State Government will implement a new minimum wage of N80,000 for all state government employees,” Ememobong stated.

In response to the announcement, the TUC chairman in the state, Comrade Dominic Abang, said that the N80,000 minimum wage is a positive development.

“I prefer not to provide my reaction at this time, but I would like to express gratitude to the governor for the announcement. It’s a positive development, and we will proceed accordingly.” Abang said.
