The United States Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken has sent a congratulatory message to the people of Eswatini on the occasion of the country’s National Day, which is observed on September 6.
In a statement issued earlier today, Blinken said, “On behalf of the United States of America, I offer my sincerest congratulations to the people of Eswatini on the 54th anniversary of your nation’s independence.”
As Eswatini continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and heal from a phase of unprecedented unrest, the independence Day is an important occasion to reflect on and celebrate the values that unite the country.
Blinken added that the United States remains in solidarity and mutual respect with Eswatini and its citizens.
“Our actions are guided by our shared core values. We underscore the importance of an inclusive, national dialogue that demonstrates respect for human rights, including freedom of expression, rule of law, and accountability.”
