World Tourism Day is observed globally to highlight the travel industry’s social, economic, political, and cultural significance.
World Tourism Day has been celebrated annually, across the world on September 27, since 1980. It was on this day in 1970 that the Statutes of the United Nations World Tourism Organization were adopted and considered a milestone in global tourism.
World Tourism Day is celebrated to raise awareness on the importance of tourism and how it affects the social, cultural, political and economic values internationally.
This year’s World Tourism Day theme is ‘Tourism for inclusive growth.
