Wrexham Striker Paul Mullin Appears in Deadpool

Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin has made an unexpected appearance in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the Marvel comic book film.

Mullin makes a surprise cameo as Welshpool, a Welsh counterpart of Ryan Reynolds’ character Deadpool.

“You may have observed that one member of the Deadpool Corps was significantly more deadly than the others. “WELSHPOOL,” stated Ryan Reynolds on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Welshpool appears late in the film, during a scene where hordes of Deadpool varieties appear on screen.

Welshpool’s uniform features big Welsh flags on the chest and shoulders.

At one point in the film, the camera pauses to accentuate the character, an evident homage to Reynolds’ newfound Welsh connection.

“Clearly I was the only Welcome to Wrexham fan in my theatre, because there were some LOOKS when I exclaimed ‘WREXPOOL!’ and ‘Super Paul Mullin!’,” commented a member of the X.

Ryan Reynolds and Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham AFC in 2020 and have overseen the team’s promotion to League One.

Their takeover and the club’s subsequent successes are featured in the TV series *Welcome to Wrexham*.

In *Deadpool & Wolverine*, Paul Mullin wasn’t the only Wrexham player to make a cameo.

Fellow striker Ollie Palmer also appeared as a bartender in the background of one scene.

The film, starring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, was released in the UK on July 24.
