Yahaya Bello, the immediate former governor of Kogi State, has vowed to file a lawsuit against an online publication that published a report that connected him to an assault on President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Monday through Ohiare Michael, the former governor’s director of the media office, Bello called the publishing not only a playful but completely nonsensical news.
“Our attention has been drawn to a not only mischievous but also illogical report published by a mushroom blog called Daily Excessive, which attributed fake quotes against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to our principal, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello,” the statement said.
“Normally, given that court records are public records, we wouldn’t have even bothered to pay any attention to this because no knowledgeable Nigerian would take such a ridiculous story, written by a sick mind, seriously.”But for the sake of the record and the benefit of social media users who spread false information without verifying the facts, this clarification is required.
He claimed that the story, which is a component of the desperate scheme by careless politicians to sour relations between the president and the former governor, is the most absurd development in their abortive attempt to carry out their bring him down at any cost illusion.
“The Media Office of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, hereby declares that the report by one Daily Excessive blog that claimed the former governor would tell the world how President Tinubu got to be president is not only false, but it also demonstrates the lack of intelligence of some of his persistent critics.
“Every Nigerian who has followed court proceedings since the former governor turned himself in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is aware that none of the cases has gone to trial. Bello, the former governor, has simply entered his plea before both courts.
“Journalists and other interested parties are free to observe proceedings in the courtroom. Because of this, no knowledgeable Nigerian would even entertain the idea of reading this vile story from Daily Excessive, an “excessive fake news purveyor.” However, a “conquered” mind is a diseased mind; therefore, we can sympathise with these troublemakers,” the statement added.
Bello also reaffirmed his backing for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, his party.
