Yvonne Nelson Reveals Challenges in School-Building Efforts

Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian movie producer and actress Yvonne Nelson has opened up on the many hurdles she had to overcome while building her schools.
In an interview, Nelson described the journey as hectic and pathetic.

She said she ran out of funds and could not secure financial assistance or a loan from the bank. According to her, the interest proposed by the banks was unreasonable.
This prompted the bold decision to sell her house and properties to fund building the school.

“Obviously, we just started primary school and this is just phase one. We are going to continue and go higher. It is really crazy because, at some point, I am getting personal now. When we started the project, I had to sell my house because I went to the banks for loan and the percentages were, look, it did not make sense.

“So, I had to fall back on a house and sold it. I had so many memories there but I said to myself, Yvonne, this is the only way, so I sold the house, started the building, the money got finished and I had to dig into my savings,” Yvonne Nelson said in an interview.

The mother of one is steadfast in her quest because she believes her school will have an impact and produce future leaders for the country.

She said, “Regardless of all the challenges, my heart is in the school project, and I know we are going to go to lengths that will surprise us. I know that a lot of future leaders are going to come out of the school.”
