President Hakainde Hichilema has fired Information and Media Minister Chushi Kasanda with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday by State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, Hichilema’s action is pursuant to Article 1 16 (3) (a) of the Constitution.
Hamasaka said Hichilema has replaced Kasanda with Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa as Minister of Information and Media.
“Hichilema has since transferred Credo Nanjuwa to be Minister for Southern Province and has since appointed Keembe Member of Parliament Princess Kasune as Minister for Central Province pursuant to Article 1 16 (l) of the Constitution,” he said.
Hamasaka added that Hichilema has also terminated the job of Anna Songolo from the office of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution.
“Hichilema has transferred the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Media Kennedy Kalunga to Cabinet office and has since appointed Thabo Kawana as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Media subject to Article 184 (l) of the Constitution,” he said.
Hichilema appointed Ron Mwambwa, as Auditor General subject to ratification by the National Assembly.
