Zimbabwe: Mugabe's Son Robert Jnr to Contest for Zanu-PF Youth League Post Late former President Robert Mugabe's son, Robert Mugabe Jnr, is set to contest for a leadership position in the Zanu PF youth league at its national conference to be held in May. Robert Jnr is considering competing in the party youth league's 7th national conference, which will take place between May 4 and 8. When asked if Robert Jnr would be eligible to run, Zanu PF acting deputy secretary for youth Tendai Chirau was evasive. "We will only know people who are interested after submission of CVs (curriculum vitae) which is done at DCC (district coordinating committee) and provincial levels. We haven't yet received them. I wouldn't know if he (Robert Jnr) is interested because it's just like you have just finished 'A' Levels and you say you want to go to university when results are not yet out," Chirau told newsmen on Thursday. Although it is unclear exactly where Robert Jnr is aiming for, insiders indicate that because Chirau is already well outside the constitutionally recognized youth group, he may as well be in the running for the top award. The 30-year-old is reportedly pursuing a parliamentary seat in Zvimba West, which is now held by Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi. He reaffirmed allegiance to Zanu PF, a party his late father helped build, at President Emmerson Mnangagwa's star rally in Chitungwiza last week. Later, Robert Jnr sat at the high table with senior government officials. Chris Mutsvangwa, a spokesperson for Zanu PF, said Robert Jnr's presence will motivate young people to join the former revolutionary party.
