Five students died on the spot after a Tynwald School Bus was involved in an accident yesterday at Juliasdale – a resort town in Nyanga , Manicaland, Zimbabwe.
According to Nyanga South legislator, Supa Mandiwanzira, another student died on admission at Nyanga District Hospital.
Mandiwanzira commended the quick response by emergency workers and members of the local community which he said “made a huge difference”.
“The bus driver allegedly failed to negotiate a sharp curve resulting in the bus rolling several times on a steep slope; it then landed on its roof,” the ZRP said in a statement.
“Thirty nine other students and staff members were injured and are admitted at Nyanga District Hospital and Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital (in Mutare). The bus had 46 occupants.”
