Zimbabwean singer Prince Musarurwa dies of lung cancer

Zimbabwean Afro-jazz musician Prince Musarurwa has passed away at the age of 31 after a long battle with lung cancer. The singer reportedly died at the Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital in Zimbabwe on Saturday, 15 February.

According to Zimbabwean media, the singer would be laid to rest in Zvimba District later today, February 18.

Tributes to the late singer have been pouring in all over social media ever since the confirmation of his death by a relative.

“We wish to extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Afro-jazz musician, Prince Kudakwashe Musarurwa, who passed on last night. The music industry is poorer without you. Rest in peace,” Zimbabwean political party Movement for Democratic Change shared on Twitter. 

Musarurwa, who was the grandson of the late composer August Musarurwa, rose to fame in 2013 following his scene-stealing appearance on Pah Chihera’s hit record, ‘Runonzi Rudo’ . 

The musician in the same year, he released his third studio album,  “Gogodera” to good reviews. This was swiftly followed with “Chiga Chikuru” in 2014. Musaruruwa was reportedly working on a fifth studio album prior to his death.
